Utilities Billing System for Dynamics 365 Business Central User Guide
Introduction
The d365 Utilities Billing System Solution (i.e. d365U Billing System) is a utility billing solution built natively on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It manages the complete billing lifecycle for an electricity utility --- from registering meters and importing readings, through applying tariffs, levies, KVA demand, solar credits, deposits and late fees, to posting invoices and printing bill statements.
It posts to standard Business Central Accounts Receivable and General Ledger, so all billing activity flows into the normal BC financial records.
It documents each setup area field by field --- what the field does, valid values, and how it connects to the rest of the system --- and then walks through the day-to-day billing cycle.
Core Concepts & Terminology

| Register | A meter counter. TOU meters hold six registers (Peak/Standard/Off-Peak × High/Low season) |
| Season | High or Low season, driven by calendar months, selecting which tariff set applies |
| Time of Use (TOU) | Peak, Standard, or Off-Peak pricing band |
| LPU | Large Power User — billed on maximum KVA demand in addition to energy |
| Levy | A statutory/utility charge (e.g. ECB, NEF) added per kWh, as a fixed amount, or as a % of revenue |
| Net Metering | Solar buy-back — exported energy credited to the customer |
| Billing Cycle | A run grouping (LPU vs Non-LPU) with its own period-end rules |
A note on this configuration: This guide reflects a live electricity-utility configuration, including ECB and NEF levies, LPU maximum-demand billing, and High/Low seasons. Levies and rates are all configurable, so your figures may differ --- the field meanings stay the same.
